2:50am Red Lights

Brett and i arrived in the red light district around 10 of 3. The streets were very familiar to me since we were here just the other day. As we walked deeper into the red light district a man walked by us looking up into the sky. He was a black man wearing almost all black. Under his voice he mumbled "Coca, Coca"

I took a breath and buried my face with in my coat as we took a turn down a street that was lined with red lights on two levels with a canal running down the middle. The street was filled with load noises of men laughing and screaming. I was instantly put on high alert to what was going on around me. Individual men as well as groups of men walked up and down the street looking at girls and laughing with each other. My mouth was gaping open at the sight of these girls. No only were they not the same girls as this morning they were the sexiest girls i have ever seen.

Brett: "how can these girls be prostitutes?" "They are the most beautiful girls i have ever seen"
Frazer: "Dude look at this girl, why isnt she doing something else?"
Brett: "lets get a couple"
Frazer: "no, i dont want to do at all" "think about how many dudes have been in them"
Brett: "Ya your right"

As we walked down the street girls in lingerie, leather, and anything else you can think of tap on their windows opened their doors and asked us to come inside.

I read a sign "lesbian show".

Frazer: "Want to see how much this is?"
Brett: "ya why not"

I cracked open the door as two ladies blond thin ladies in lingerie were inviting us in.

Frazer: "How much is it for the show"
Lady: "100 euros"
Frazer: "What 100 euros for a show no way" I turned to brett "No way is that a good deal"
Frazer: "How much is it to fuck?"
Lady: "50 euros"
Frazer: "What its 50 euros to fuck!" "Brett no how the fuck is it 50 euros to fuck these girls" "Lets do it" I started to open the door
Brett: "no!"
Frazer: As i shut the door i threw my hands in the air and said "Damnit their so hot and it is only 50 euros"
Brett: "No we said we wouldnt"
Frazer: "Your right"

The inner struggle of guys in the red light district was an amazing sight. We watched as one man bundled in his coat paced back and forth as he looked a one of the women. You could see that he had made his decision to do it as he ran with his hand extended for the door handle. Immediately after opening the door he slammed and shut and ran back to the same spot where he was pacing.

Please one more night

Our goal was to leave Amsterdam early in the morning. At this point we had enough of this crazy circus. At 11:00am we awoke to an employee of Bob's Hostel coldly stating get out or pay. We paid.

Europe is an amazing place. People from all over the world travel to Europe to visit the sights and enjoy the culture. Almost everyone you meet wants to learn a little bit about you. Coffee a few times a day for hours at a time. Life seems to be in a slow spin.

We started our day with Bob's breakfast 3 pieces of bread and one hard boiled egg. A few moments to check facebook and we were off to enjoy Amsterdam. Amsterdam is set up like a big horseshoe. Cutting through the large horseshoe are smaller horseshoes which are made up of canals for boats and on every street there are little cars and light rails. The streets are filled with beautiful buildings and arts of work that can not be found anywhere else in the world. After wandering for a while we decided to visit the famous Van Gogh museum. Van Gogh became famous after his sister in law published letters written to his brother. The letters told the store of how Van Gogh became the artist that was so well known. In each letter a new style or idea of art came into Van Gogh's mind. The newest letters express how Van Gogh seemed to be losing his mind. Eventually he killed himself.
That night we ended up in Rembrandt which was another hot spot for bars and clubs. Early into the night Brett and I had made 2 friends. These older women in their 30's were on vacation and this was their first time in Amsterdam. Brett's friend Lay had dirty blond hair, was tall and full of energy. My friend May had dark hair, seem innocent and shy. Near the end of the night May and I realized that Brett and his lady friend were missing. May quickly started to freak out wondering where her friend was. I grabbed bretts sweater since the jacket i brought with me was embarrassingly old and discolorful.
2:00am
Frazer: "I am sure they are fine they are together"
May: "no my friend would never do this"
May tries to call her friend. I try to call break.
2:20am
Frazer: "ok lets get out of here, i am sure they are fine and it is freezing."
May: "No i cannot leave without my friend." "She wouldn't do this to me." "She would be so made if i ran off and didnt tell her."
May tries to call her friend.
2:35
Brett calls: "whats up dude"
Frazer: "haha, sitting around wondering where you are"
2:40
Brett: "can i have my sweatshirt back"
Frazer: "Ya" I was not excited about having to put back on this ugly coat, but with how cold it was i had no choice.
May: "You stay one more night?"
Frazer: "No i want to get the fuck out of amsterdam."
Brett: "Ya well stay one more night."
Lay turns to brett: "May wants him to stay one more night"
Brett: "Ya well stay one more night"
Frazer: "Fine"
2:45
Brett: "Lets go to the red light district"
Frazer: "No it was scary enough during the day" "Im wasted and i dont want to go there"
Brett: "Come on, how many times are you in amsterdam?"
Frazer: "fine, lets go"

day 3 an upset stomach part 2

Brett " i think this guy had the same lunch too"
frazer "hahah" i couldnt respond...only laugh...to me my answers were loud and clear a normal conversation; to brett a laughing fool"
brett "hey man aren't these the fattiest birds you have ever seen?"
man "haha ya"

he was a shorter man with short flat black hair. he had on glasses with perfectly round lenses. his face was bright orange. with large thick wrinkles.

my mind is totally out of control at this point as i peak my head around brett laughing being no help at all.

brett "where you from man"
man in very broken english "i am in book....you know beer Guinness?"
brett " you are in the Guinness book of world records? for what?"
man "i do this thing, i tie a rope to my ear and do this" as he throws his shoulders away from brett and myself. brett looks at me and laughs as i do the same"
man "you know i put thing in my nose and do this" again he throws his shoulders back

i am totally freaked out something is wrong with this guy. I nudge brett to get out.

man "haha you know how i get to the states, to do this in front of 7000 people?"
brett " no, well it was nice to meet you man" as brett extends his hand the man extends his. on contact brett jumps back with a "wowwwa" "i am freaked out now"
the guy offered his hand to me as i waved my hand in the air as i walked away.

9:00 pm - life seems normal again. we are fried from the activities of the day and from the little sleep that we have had. landiesplaien was an area recommended for bars and clubs. after a night of drinking we arrived at home at 3:00am

Day 3: An upset stomach part 1

My phone alarm goes off and we stuff our crap into our bags. the desk attendent is still asleep and wont come down for another hour. we eat the $20 deposit for the late entrance card...egg rolled again.

walking off the train onto the busy streets we are welcomed with a beautiful 16th century city. to our right is a parking lot for bikes with no less than 2000 bikes loked up.
we enter into a bar for our first cup of coffee for the daz. the man next to us is from wales. he is here on business for the airline industry. his face is broken with pimples and sores. his accent and intensity about amsterdam tell us he is either crazy or just trzing to be nice. he offers to buz us each our first beer in amsterdam. it is 11am and he wont except a no thanks.

we found bobs zouth hostel which was suggested to us the night before a few minutes walk down the road. we entered into the reception through two small green wooden doors walking down into a basement.

1:00pm - we hit the streets
1:30pm - we watch a street show
2:00pm - we eat lunch with some fungus on it
2:10pm - we walk through the red light district
2:20pm - we entered in the weed museum, inside our stomaches start to feel strange from our lunch.
2:30pm - the prositutes in the windows display themselves to the passers while taping the windows and opening their doors. the women looked to be mid 40s large and used.
2:40pm - we wander the streets laughing at the sites and sounds of amsterdam....amsterdam is a circus.
2:45pm - we entered into the sex museum. lunch made the museum extra special. wax figures flashed their boobs and dicks in our face as we wandered aimlessly through the museum. each room had its on energy....some dark some bright. the walls were lined with photos of people having sex with animals, objects, people and everything you can imagine. brett and i passed bz 3 boys whom seemsed to have eaten the same lunch as us. my mind is racing at this point laughing uncontrollable at the photos and sites while trying to remain calm for the average tourist around us. we climbed the spiral staircase and saw a world of dildos and other sex toys. both fictional siyes and non. my stomach is exploding with a discusting feeling as my mind reacts to my internal needs....fear, love, joy all clashing together. to an outsider brett and i must have looked insane.
3:15pm - outside the weather is misty with gray clouds above us. brett and i pick a direction after staring at a building in the distance. our minds were bouncing off of each others linke bumper cars. circling and clashing in different spaces and times. we struggled with the decision of buzing two colorful looking sodas of fanta. these two drinks will become our friends for a while as we roam the streets of amsterdam.
3:30pm - it feels like it has been days since we ate lunch. we end up in the center square where hundreds of people are traveling in all different directions. to our left is the red light district. from the real world. the energy of the center smacked us in the face as i started to lose control over mz body. a man sits down next to brett and i.

day 1 part 2

Our hostel was set up like a dorm. with hundreds of rooms and 4 beds in each room. we arrived after wandering for hours looking for mannakin pis.

Front desk girl: "It is $22 a night"
Brett: "ok"
Front desk girl: "I need your passports, breakfast is from 7-10 check out at 11 curfew at 2"
Frazer: "how do we get back into the hostel after that?"
front desk girl: "you need a card that is a $20 deposit." "you also can't get into the romm till after 2 today." "you can get a locker for $2.50 but you can onlz open it once."
Frazer: i turned to brett "fuck we are getting egg rolled" I turned back to the front desk girl "fine we will take the locker and entrance card"

For dinner we wandered down to the busy streets near the citz center. a low glow of light came from all the old buildings that were built more than 300 years ago. The alleys are as much as you would imagine. 5 feet wide with restuarants and shops on each side. we are welcomed bz a sign which has photos of their meals. we are sold bz the 10 euro steak and fries.

hostest: "you like?"
brett: "ya sounds good"
Hostest: welcome than"

Inside the restuarant a mix of techno, rap, spanish music played at a low volume. we ordered the steak special. after a short conversation our meal came out. fries with a side of steak. the steak had to be no larger than the size of my closed fist.

egg rolled again.

that night we decided that we would leave for amsterdam in the morning at 6:00am. we arrived back in our hostel at 3:00am.

Day 2: you go that way part 1

We arrived into the center of brussels having no plan or idea of what to do. wandering the streets of brussels we gazed upon houses and cathedrals that depicted the traditional 15th century style of architecture. The cobble stone streets zere our yellow brick road to our first monument. Mannaken Pis know as pissing boy which has now become a symbol of brussels.

Brett: hello do you know where mannaken pis is
Stranger: you go down that street and take that one. While saying that he waved his hand in no apparent direction.

2 hours later we stumbled upon a small sign that stated Chocolate Museum inside smells of dark, white, and milk chocolate were flowing throught the house. In front of us we face built completely out of chocolate. To our left fresh warm chocolate was being turned as we were offered some. Delicous and sweet. In the second room an older women with short white hair reminded me of someones grandma. she called herself a chocolatier. one who forms chocolate but does not make it.

Day 1: Egg Roll

30 minutes before we leave bretts for the airport i find myself jumping into the shower while brett runs around his house gathering his belongings for the trip. Its 2:30 in the afternoon on November 4th. At 3:00 we are ready to go as we jump into Mumble`s car one of bretts friends. As we weave through traffic brett and i look at a european map for the first time to think about our destinations.
Brett: what time will we be landing?
Frazer: 12pm thursday
Brett: so we grab lunch not party time? just wanted to know.

I find it ironic that 3 months earlier a tarrot card reader told me that i would get a new job and travel extensively. both have come true

At the airport brett and i decided to eat dinner at a chinese restaurant. 6.95 for a plate of food.

Chinese women: Would you like egg roll?
Frazer: Sure that is so nice of you. In my mind the egg roll didnt look to appotizing.

Chinese man: 11.50
Frazer: the egg roll is three bucks. fuck

As we ate our meal i said to brett i cant belieave we got this stupid egg roll.

On the plane brett and i helped ourselves to free drinks while watching the movie The Hangover. As we arrived in Brussels at 6am we decided to say fuck it to spain and start our adventures in northern europe.
